MP for Sheffield Central Paul Blomfield spoke in the House of Commons last week to raise the plight of unpaid carers and recognise the work done by Sheffield Carers Centre. Paul pressed the Parliamentary Under-Secretary for Housing, Communities and Local Government, Rishi Sunak to get more support for carers.
Speaking on 10th December, Paul said, “There is inadequate funding for social care, and many carers are left unsupported. Yet the government has simply passed this problem on to local authorities without the funding that they need. The Government must provide adequate funding for councils and specifically to assist in identifying carers so that they can get the support they need from groups like Sheffield Carers Centre.”
