Carers and friends celebrate 25 years of the Carers Centre
On Friday 29 November, over 100 people – carers, professionals and friends of the Carers Centre – enjoyed a day of fun activities, delicious afternoon tea and a suitably special venue to celebrate 25 years helping unpaid carers in Sheffield.
The Lord Mayor of Sheffield opened the event and gave a great speech recognising the amazing contribution of unpaid carers and the support that the Carers Centre provides. The birthday candles were blown out and people enjoyed the grand hospitality of the Cutlers’ Hall before having taster sessions from a range of businesses and activities listed on our Carer Card.
In the afternoon, we conducted the important business of our Annual General Meeting but also heard from BBC Radio Sheffield favourite Paulette Edwards, who was our special guest speaker, who spoke about the vital, challenging and rewarding work that carers do.
“Thank You!” to everyone who came and we know a good time was had by all…and now we hope that carers, professionals and the general public will help us reach even more of the 60,000 people in Sheffield who look after a loved one, so we can do even more over the next 25 years!
