Our ‘Keep in Touch’ guide was launched in December. The aim is to help carers, and those they care for, maintain social connections whilst also following physical distancing guidelines. The 12-page guide highlights the importance of having social interaction and lists some of the most popular ways people are now keeping in touch. It also provides some inspirational real life examples of how people have made new friends. On a practical level, the guide includes links to some examples of the numerous local and national groups that can help people stay socially connected.
Chief Executive for Sheffield Carers Centre, Pauline Kimantas, commented: “Restrictions on the way people can meet in person has a particular impact on carers, who are often more isolated because of their caring role. As physical distancing has become the norm, it is important we all continue to make as much social connection as possible. This guide has lots of information that encourages carers to maintain their existing connections and try some new ideas”.
