We’re delighted to announce solicitors Irwin Mitchell are holding a free webinar to help explain the rights of carers to access support. This is a great chance to hear about the rights carers have and ask questions of some experts. To attend this Zoom event please send an email with the title ‘Carers Rights Webinar’ to email@example.com along with your name and phone number and any questions you have. We’ll email back asap with joining details and to confirm your place.
How we’re supporting Carers Rights Day
In addition to the above webinar, we’re working with Sheffield Young Carers and Sheffield City Council on a campaign to promote Carers Rights Day (which is Thursday 26 November). This includes an interview with Paulette Edwards on BBC Radio Sheffield; plus posting a series of short videos on Social Media. For more details about the national campaign please visit this page on the carersuk website.
The theme for Carers Rights Day 2020 is ‘Know Your Rights’
Whether you are a new carer or have been caring for someone for a while, we believe that it’s important that you understand your rights and are able to access the support that is available to you as soon as you need it.
Each year, Carers Rights Day helps us:
- ensure carers are aware of their rights
- let carers know where to get help and support
- raise awareness of the needs of carers.
Carers need to know their rights wherever they are in their caring journey: whether they are in the workplace, in a healthcare setting, when interacting with professionals or at home. This Carers Rights Day, we want to empower carers with information and support, so they can feel confident asking for what they need. We also want carers to know how to challenge things when their rights are not being met.
