New Articles of Association
Sheffield Carers Centre last reviewed its governing documents (known as the Memorandum and Articles of Association) in 2007. Since then, there have been major changes introduced by the Companies Act 2008, and in 2014 the Charity Commission published new model Articles of Association.
In January 2017 Sheffield Carers Centre commenced delivery of a major new contract with Sheffield City Council. This led to the creation of a new governance structure and Board development plan, one of the actions being to review the Charity’s governing documents to ensure they are ‘fit for purpose’.
The Corporate Governance Committee has thoroughly reviewed the Memorandum and Articles of Association, using the Charity Commission’s model Articles. The Committee has produced the updated version of the Articles which it is putting forward for adoption. This will mean that Sheffield Carers Centre’s governing documents are clearer, written in much more accessible language and, most importantly, provide the ‘fit for purpose’ governing framework that enables Sheffield Carers Centre to continue its mission into the future.
