Often, your first contact with the Sheffield Carers Centre will be through our Carers Advice Line. The service is staffed by trained professionals who understand the pressures of caring and can help you with any aspect of your caring role. They can give you lots of the information you need as a carer, for example about:
- understanding how the social care system works
- your rights as a carer
- respite services, and taking a break from caring
- benefits and financial matters
- and lots more!
You can also contact the service just to talk about your caring role – we will give you a sympathetic listening ear.
To contact the service, please call:

During the Coronavirus (COVID-19) situation, our Advice Line is available at a revised time: 10am – 4pm any weekday (there is an answerphone service outside these hours)
We will likely need to ask you for some details of your caring situation, but the service is completely confidential.
The person you speak to will also ask if we can add you to our Carers Register (if you are not already on it) so that you will receive our regular Newsletters and other relevant information.
